We are delighted to invite you to Mole Valley Chamber’s monthly networking breakfast. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with local businesses, enjoy a delicious breakfast, and gain valuable insights from our inspiring guest speaker.
Mentoring matters: Empowering young people, enriching mentors, and strengthening businesses
Our speaker this month is Liz Grace from MCR Pathways.
MCR Pathways are an award winning charity that provides 1-2-1 mentoring for young people in schools across Surrey. Their mentors are all volunteers who give just 1 hour a week to support a young person facing challenges. No specific experience is required; they give full training and ongoing support.
Liz will be talking about the power of mentoring and how this not only supports our young people and ultimately our whole community but it also the benefits those people who give their time to mentor as well as the employers who allow their staff to get involved with volunteering, specifically mentoring, and how it can benefit their Social Value/CSR efforts.
To summarise: mentoring has clear impacts for all:
- the mentee has the support of a reliable and caring adult relationship to help them with their challenges;
- the mentor develops skills in many areas including empathy and active listening, communication and hence core leadership skills;
- the employer/business benefits through increased morale, staff development, staff retention, productivity and engagement with a truly impactful local social purpose.
About our speaker
Liz has worked in the charity sector for 8 years, and previously was the Fundraising Manager and Volunteer Manager for a charity called Dyscover in Leatherhead, and prior to that, she worked in Recruitment.
Her role now is to connect with local people and develop partnerships with local community groups and businesses.
Liz has lived in Surrey all her life and is passionate about the huge benefits that volunteering brings to everyone and to making a difference to the lives of people in Surrey.

The Chamber’s monthly Networking Breakfasts are very popular, so do book early. Business people from the Mole Valley district and the surrounding areas come together to meet, eat and network in the third week of each month.
There is a wide range of people who attend from all sectors and all sizes. From sole traders and start-ups, to some of the biggest businesses in the district.
Each month there is a guest speaker, who talk about their own experiences of running a business and their own personal journey or give an insight into their particular skills and sector.
What you can expect:
- Enjoy an excellent breakfast with like-minded people.
- Make new connections through our informal networking.
- Get an introduction if there’s someone you’d like to meet.
- Find new local customers and suppliers.
If it is your first breakfast or you haven’t attended in a while the Chamber Directors are always on hand to make introductions.
