Trivia, triumphs, and a tiebreaker: The Chris Webb Memorial Charity Quiz Night
Last night at Java Caffe, the air was thick with more than just the smell of delicious chicken wings and pasta. There was the hum of intense deliberation, the occasional “bold guess” gone wrong, and the electric energy of a community coming together for a fantastic cause.
The Mole Valley Chamber was proud to host the Chris Webb Memorial Charity Quiz Night, a fun and feel-good evening dedicated to the memory of a truly special former member and dedicated SERV volunteer.
The Stakes & The Stats
We weren’t just there to test our knowledge; we were there to support SERV Surrey & London. This incredible volunteer-run organisation works tirelessly to deliver urgent blood supplies across the region, and we are thrilled to announce that thanks to your generosity, we raised just short of £1,500!
A Nail-Biting Finish
The competition was fierce across eight rounds—covering everything from “Where in Surrey?” to “Science and Nature”—coming down to a dramatic tiebreaker question.
- The Winners: A huge congratulations to The Outlaws (Surrey Hills Solicitors), who kept their cool to take home the top prize: a mini bottle of Prosecco for every team member.
- The Runners-Up: A massive shout-out to Wey Hey Valley (Wey Valley Advanced Motorcyclists), who pushed the winners right to the edge.
- The Wooden Spoon: Every quiz needs a “bottom of the class,” and for their efforts, Waifs and Strays walked away with Yorkie bars to sweeten the defeat.
The Roll Call: Last Night’s Competitors
We had a fantastic turnout of local businesses and brilliant minds. Here are the teams that made the night so memorable:

Gratitude is the Greatest Gift
An event like this doesn’t happen without a lot of generous support. We owe a debt of gratitude to:
- Simon Edmands of the Leatherhead Rotary Club, our fantastic Quizmaster who kept us all on our toes.
- Graham Faulkner, Chamber Director, for his tireless work in organising the night.
- Java Caffe, who didn’t just host us, but incredibly donated back the cost of the food to boost our fundraising total.
- Surrey Hills Solicitors and Bullimores Chartered Accountants for very kindly sponsoring the pens and notepads respectively.
- To all those that donated a raffle prize, your generosity helped us reach that fantastic final total.
What’s Next?
The impact of your night out doesn’t end here. We will be officially presenting a cheque to SERV Surrey & London at our upcoming breakfast meeting on Wednesday 18th March at The Watermill in Dorking. For more details: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1981539345524
