Tax changes for businesses in 2023

Our speaker will be David Beckman from David Beckman & Co (Ashtead) who will be talking about tax changes for businesses in 2023 and what they mean for businesses, SMEs, sole traders and limited companies.

The tax rate increase from 19% to 25% for Companies that will come in from 1 April 2023: He will explain the changes and how they will affect all companies whose taxable profits exceed £50,000 and could also affect companies where profits are half of this at £25,000 or say a 1/3rd at just £16,666 , especially where you may be connected to other companies. He will also give you steps that some companies could take before the end of March 2023 to alleviate the worst impact of this increase in corporation tax.

Other simple tax planning strategies before the end of the tax year on 5 April 2023: He will run through about 6-8 simple ways to save tax before the end of the tax year – there will something for everyone.

Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax: He will mention Making Tax Digital for Income Tax and explain who is affected and what it will mean in practice for many sole traders and landlords.

About the speaker

David comes from a family of accountants (grandfather, father, uncles) and said to myself when young that I would never become an accountant.

He drifted into accountancy a few years after university when I needed to settle down and get a job.

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1990 and as Chartered Tax Adviser Tax in 1991 and having worked in some small practices and also in an International Tax Practice for about 4 years, he finally set up myself in the year 2000 and since then have grown the practice organically – they operate as David Beckman & Co Ltd as a team of 10 now and have been in Ashtead high street since 2007.

Their driving aim at all the time is to help make business more profitable and life less taxing (meaning they not only take the hassle away from running your own business, but we will save you tax where ever possible using only simple, straightforward, legal and effective means).
